7.   Contract description  

The Albanian National Transport Plan (ANTP) was prepared with the aid of EU Funding in 2004 to provide the Government of Albania with planning guidelines and assist continued planning of the transport sector.

By incorporating the Albanian National Transport Plan (ANTP) into law in 2006 the Government created a legal framework to implement the recommendations made for the improvement of the functioning of the Transport Sector.  However the ANTP is a dynamic document which needs to be continually updated. Therefore, this current assignment is for the completion of a comprehensive five year review of the ANTP to take account of the rapid socioeconomic development in Albanian and the changing national, regional and international conditions since the ANTP was first formulated in 2004.

10.             Additional information

The consultant appointed to prepare this First Five Year Review of the Albanian National Transport Plan (ANTP) will be required to work in partnership with local counterpart the Albanian Institute of Transport, which by Council Of Ministers Decision of November 2007 are charged with the maintenance and updating of the ANTP and the development and maintenance of the national transport data base for all transport modes.
